The public sector faces increasing pressure to capitalise on emerging technologies and address the widening digital skills gap. This Women in Tech Week event delves into how AI can drive rapid advancement—reshaping work, streamlining upskilling, and opening new pathways for women in technology roles across government.

The session will be introduced by Hacer Evans, Managing Director at Accenture, who will share Accenture’s insights into the transformative speed and reach of AI, including how it is being used to reskill and empower their workforce at an unprecedented pace.

Following this, a keynote address from a Guest Speaker from Government will articulate what Skills Growth signifies in the evolving UK landscape, highlighting the urgency and scale at which AI can amplify workforce development.

Dr Vanessa Vallely OBE, CEO & Founder of WeAreTechWomen, will then present key findings from the newly released Lovelace Report, quantifying the £2–3.5 billion annual cost of losing women from the tech pipeline. Vanessa will underscore why this is a decisive moment to focus on accelerated reskilling, progression, and retention—and how AI is acting as a catalyst to speed up these crucial changes for women working in tech.

A panel discussion featuring senior leaders, Rajni Gill, Interim Deputy Director for AI and Innovation Strategy, DWP Digital, Julie Bromley, People and Capability Director General, DWP and Amanda Reynolds, Accenture will be facilitated by Dr Vanessa Vallely OBE. The conversation will explore:

  • How AI is rapidly transforming upskilling and professional development opportunities
  • What actions are needed to build a robust and future-ready public sector reskilling agenda
  • Ways to ensure there are strong opportunities to lead and shape the AI-driven transformation of the sector

The event will close with open networking, offering attendees the chance to connect with peers, share insights, and spark collaborations that could accelerate the future of public sector technology.

We look forward to seeing you there!
