Event Details
Kicking off as a part of UK Women In Tech week, TECwomen would like to invite you to join us for a swim, a paddle, or just a tea by the sea. Our new TECwomen Sea Sessions brings together all our favourite things – the amazing TECwomen community, coffee and networking, and the sea!
It’s well known that spending time in and by the sea is wonderful for your mental health. We know that working in tech can at times be stressful and the industry is prone to burnout. However, taking time out to connect with nature and other people can help recharge and renew. This is why we are launching our new TECwomen Sea Sessions as a part of UK Women In Tech Week. We are so lucky to work and live by the sea, and this is a chance for the TECwomen community to come together for a swim, a paddle or just to meet up for a coffee and a chat by the sea.
The session will start at 8:30, but it is informal and you can go in and out of the sea whenever suits you best. You are welcome to bring boards along if that is more your bag. The TECwomen team will be hanging out until 10, so don’t worry if you need to come a bit later. If you have little ones (children and/or dogs) you are welcome to bring them along, but at this time of year there will not be lifeguards on duty.
Amoungst the swimming will be grabbing coffees from Gilly Beach Cafe and hope to chat on the beach if the weather holds. If it rains it might be a quick dip followed by coffee’s inside the cafe. Please note, drinks are not included in this free event, so you are welcome to bring your own.
As with all our events, while we are an orgnasiation that supports women in technology, engineering and creative careers – we welcome EVERYONE at our events. This is especially true for our awesome allies from across all genders.

Join us for a compelling and timely LinkedIn Live event with Debbie Forster MBE and Karen Blake, Co-CEOs of the Tech Talent Charter, as they discuss the findings from their 2023 report on Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in the tech industry.
Discussion Focus:
Three years ago, many companies made bold commitments to enhance equality and inclusion within their organisations, driven by a global movement for social justice. However, the landscape has dramatically shifted, and D&I is now facing a defunding crisis. As companies tighten their budgets and shift their priorities, D&I strategies are increasingly being pushed aside. Initiatives are being deprioritized, teams are being disbanded, and strategic frameworks are left without practical implementation.
During this discussion, Debbie and Karen will delve into the key statistics from the report, revealing critical data on gender diversity, ethnic diversity, socio-economic diversity, neurodivergence, and disability in tech. They will also highlight the growing challenges faced by D&I advocates who are fighting to keep these issues on the corporate agenda amid a changing business environment. As the industry reaches an inflection point, it is essential to identify and implement strategies that sustain progress, ensuring that diversity and inclusion remain integral to future business priorities.
Key Topics:
- The alarming trend of companies deprioritising D&I efforts and its implications for the future of tech.
- Insights into the current state of gender and ethnic diversity in tech, alongside emerging data on socio-economic diversity, neurodivergence, and disability.
- The risk of losing hard-won D&I progress and what needs to be done to reverse the current trajectory.
- What more can companies do to level the playing field in tech to be inclusive to all
Why Attend?
This discussion is essential for anyone interested in the future of diversity and inclusion within the tech sector. Whether you’re a D&I professional, a tech leader, or someone passionate about equality in the workplace, this conversation will provide critical insights and actionable takeaways to help safeguard and advance D&I efforts in your organization.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from two of the leading voices in D&I as they shed light on the challenges and solutions for maintaining momentum in diversity and inclusion during these uncertain times.

Event Details
Advancements in generative AI are revolutionising the creation of virtual characters and fantasies by leveraging AI image, video, voice, and language generation.
This trend has the potential to enhance virtual experiences, offering new possibilities for personalised interactions. However, for those already experiencing discrimination and marginalisation in technology and cultural production, the control over collective and individual identity faces increasing threats. Generative AI art has led to the appropriation of women’s images, shaping new female fantasies within male-dominated spaces. This new hands-on workshop delves into generative AI identity and fiction-making, fostering collective discussion and knowledge-sharing on its impact on our collective and individual identities.
The workshop is for women and gender non-conforming people. Please bring a laptop if you have one. In the workshop you will work on your own AI portrait, ideally of yourself, so you will need to consider how to describe your appearance by developing a written prompt. If this is something you do not feel comfortable with you could describe another person. At the end of the workshop, if you choose, we will invite you to share the prompts you have written with the group.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception.

Personal profile can be one of the most powerful elements in your business armoury, but you have to know what tools and techniques will help you build it and protect it in order to drive success.
Culturally, many people are brought up not to “toot your own horn” or shout about your successes, but in today’s world if you don’t stand out, you’re likely to watch those with profile pass you by on their way to the top.
Throughout this interactive and practical session, Vanessa will share stories from her career about how she started in Banking in the City at 16, worked for nine different banks and rose to the C-suite. Vanessa will provide the top tips she’s picked up in corporates, as an entrepreneur and as a network leader and encourage your audience to become comfortable with raising their profile. This session works for both women and men at all levels of the organisation.
This session will conclude with a panel including Bank of America’s Nikita Bascombe | Vice President, Credit Trading Technology, Nikki Swannack | Senior Vice President, Network Services executive & Sonali Patwardhan | Senior Vice President, Global Information Security
There will also be ample opportunities to meet others and grow your network.
Keynote includes:
- How to stop feeling like an imposter – What is imposter syndrome, how it surfaces and how to keep it in check.
- How to focus on your personal brand and exhibit leadership behaviours to your peers.
- The importance of networking and building relationships for the future and why you must create your own people plan.
- Networking – Why networking is important and how to build authentic relationships.
- Speed networking and aha moments – A chance to break the ice and form relationships amongst guests.
- Optimising your digital footprint – what is your story online?
- Coach, Mentor, Sponsor – Who can help you drive your career and how to build your career army of advocates.
- The importance of giving back – Engaging in extracurricular activities to help others, enhance your skills and grow your network.
Vanessa will provide guidance on a wide array of profile-raising opportunities that are easy to implement straight away. Through this talk Vanessa helps individuals to take the next steps towards raising their profile and attracting opportunities to progress in their careers and help others too.

What approach should I take here to impress my manager? When this happens we move further away from our authentic values and what makes us who we are. This talk addresses how we can become clearer on what our values are, identify how to uphold them in our careers and ultimately ensure you are forever impressing yourself first and others later!

Vision boards are a powerful tool
Event Details
Vision boards are a powerful tool for turning dreams into reality. Research shows that visualizing your future, keeping it visible every day, and taking consistent actions towards it, significantly boosts your chances of success.
A survey by TD Bank found that people who used vision boards were nearly twice as confident in achieving their goals compared to those who didn’t. Similarly, a Harvard Business School study revealed that the 3% of MBA graduates who wrote down their goals earned ten times more than the other 97% combined, within ten years of graduation.
A vision board is not just a collection of images; it’s a strategic tool that helps you stay focused and reignites your passion for your goals.
Cajigo is excited to bring you this Masterclass with CEO Rav Bumbra guiding you in creating the ultimate vision board to help you achieve success in both your personal and professional life, through clarity, motivation, and focus.
This workshop will provide you with new skills and the process to determine your vision:
- build a successful career in technology
- lead a fulfilling and rewarding life
- achieve the right work-life balance
- turn your wildest dreams into reality
Join Rav for a power hour that will equip you with the framework to steer your path in the right direction and be inspired to recharge your career through the stories of women in tech who have harnessed the power of visualization for success.

Event Details
